How Flint Group’s Kim Matter makes a living spending money

By

Kim Matter describes herself as reliable and quiet. But here at Flint Group, she’s kind of a big deal.Kim Matter staff photo

A media planner/buyer at our Fargo office, Kim figures out the best mix of media channels to help our clients reach their target audience.

Kim has been with us for eight years and says she’s always thought advertising was interesting, but doesn’t consider herself very creative. That’s why she ended up being a numbers gal.

“Plus, I love to spend money–and it’s better when it’s someone else’s rather than my own,” she said.

When I asked her what her career goal is, she said she strives to provide the best customer service to every client, regardless of budget.

Outside of the number crunching, Kim’s passion is quite simple: spending time with her family.

Family first

She and her husband Tony lived in L.A. and Minneapolis before settling in Hawley, Minn., to be closer to their families.

“I spent too many years away from the area and am glad to be back home and able to see family on more than just special holidays,” she said. “I’ve learned to appreciate our time together over the years and have realized how fast life goes by,” she said.

Kim says she and Tony spend pretty much every weekend with her dad, sisters, and nieces and nephews at their cabin on Cotton Lake, near Detroit Lakes, Minn. She said, “My motto is to work hard during the week so I can enjoy family time on the weekends.”

After years of practice, Tony can drive the Ski-Doo with one hand.

Kim's nieces, Lauren and Olivia, attend culinary school for marshmallow roasting.

Whether swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing and eating good food, Kim says time with family is what makes life worthwhile.
