Roger Reierson Celebrates WestmorelandFlint's 60th Anniversary With a Toast

WestmorelandFlint turns 60 years old this month. It was founded as H.E. Westmoreland Agency on November 1, 1949  by H.E. Westmoreland. Wes, as everyone called him, opened the agency without any accounts and a capitalization of only $1,000. Employment mostly consisted of family. Mrs. Dorothy Westmoreland handled most of the secretarial duties and answered the phone. The office was located at 403 ½ Alworth Building.

Fast forward more than 50 years. After the successful eras of owners including Donn Larson, Jim Hill and Harold Webster plus many key employees including Al France, John Hyduke arrived on the scene. He partnered with Roger Reierson of Flint Communications in Fargo to purchase the agency on March 1, 2000, and the agency name was modified to WestmorelandFlint.

Countless things have changed in agency life through the years, including our address (we’re now located at 11 East Superior Street, Duluth), but our committment to clients and getting results has not. We’re proud of our history and embrace our responsibility to helping our clients achieve success. It’s a privilege we take seriously every day.

Today we held a special toast to honor all those who helped the agency make it through 60 years, and looked forward to the future.

Thank you to everyone who’s worked here through the years. And thank you to all of the  people who’ve allowed us to help them build their businesses and organizations.

If you have a story you’d like to share about the agency, we’d love to hear it!
