How Flint Group took its holiday greeting to Facebook – and spread goodwill across five states

By

At Flint Group, our holiday greetings are always a little unconventional.

This year, we set out to make our actions speak louder than our words – to DO something meaningful with our clients, rather than just say something.

That’s when we came up with Flint it Forward: a campaign (yes, inspired by the poignant movie Pay it Forward) to encourage goodwill during the holiday season.

Flint it Forward

Here’s how it worked:

  1. We called on Flintsters and our clients to do a good deed for someone – anyone. And, just to make it a little more fun, we asked them to try not to get caught.
  2. Then, we invited them to post a photo of their deed, along with a little story about it, on our Facebook Page.
  3. Lastly, we encouraged them to tag someone in their post. This tag was their cue to Flint it Forward and continue the ripple effect of good deeds.

The result was truly inspiring – so touching that, after reviewing the Facebook posts before writing this, I found a little pool of tears on my keyboard.

Our creative team created a little video to showcase a few of the amazing things people did:

The holiday season may be over, but Flint it Forward isn’t.

Here at Flint Group, we’ve been revitalized by the incredible power of giving we’ve experienced through Flint it Forward. The campaign has helped us realize how small acts of kindness can make big differences in our communities – and in our own lives.

As we enter 2013, we’re filled with hope: hope in a campaign that spread joy across five states and a dozen cities, hope in the good that likeminded people can do together, and finally, hope that others will join in to make the world a better place – one small act of kindness at a time.
